When & Where

Here are all of the details for our events. The majority of our time will be spent in the marquees, at the top of the hill.

Gaye Holud & Mehndi

In these traditional pre-wedding events, guests will cover the bride and groom in turmeric, which was believed to brighten the couple’s appearance.

Dress code: South Asian traditional or semi-formal: colourful and vibrant is the key. Bright hues of yellow, pink, green, blue – whatever makes you feel lively!

The Ceremony (Nikkah)

This is known as the Nikkah, which is where the couple becomes officially married!

Dress code: South Asian traditional or formal (black tie optional). Wear something that makes you feel special.

The Reception

Kick off the couple’s married life with a big party – celebrate, dance, sing, and (of course) eat!

Dress code: South Asian traditional or formal (black tie optional). Wear something that makes you feel special.

Accommodation

As a prominent holiday spot, there are several hotels and Air BnB type accommodation spots.

  • For suburbs closest to the venue, search within Katoomba.
  • If you don't mind a short drive, you can look between Leura to Bullaburra.
  • If you want to stay within Sydney, and don't mind a longer drive, Penrith may be your best bet.
What to Wear

  • Gaye Holud/Mehndi: bright, vibrant traditional or semi-formal wear. Some examples of colours: yellows, pinks, blues, greens.
  • Ceremony/reception: formal (black-tie optional), or traditional. Wear something that makes you feel special and happy!

  • A quick note on footwear: if you plan on wearing heeled shoes, please be aware: the venue has a steep and unpaved hill.

The families request no boxed gifts.

Weather

Weather in the Blue Mountains in April is usually sunny and clear, with an average high of 20 degrees Celsius (source).

You can find a prediction calendar here. It is advised to bring something warm for the cooler nights, and rain protection, just in case (rain can be unpredictable in the Blue Mountains - if you're from New Zealand, you'll get it).

We can't wait to celebrate with you!
